SUPPORT PROJECT - COVID-19

Greetings to our beautiful community of SA'OAXACA.
The global crisis we are all experiencing deeply saddens and moves us, and we want to extend our solidarity to the music community worldwide. These times test our resilience as creators and musicians in times of anguish and stress. On behalf of the entire SA'OAXACA family, we send you a fraternal embrace and encourage you to keep making music, especially when times are so uncertain. That is why SA'OAXACA contributed a little during these difficult times.
As you know, our mission is to be committed to providing excellent educational opportunities to students in Mexico. Our teachers and administration initiated a solidarity project for our SA'OAXACA alumni in 2019.
This project included the opportunity to:
Take free online classes with teachers from SA'OAXACA 2019 and with exceptional students from the University of Michigan.
Attend lectures led by members of the Amethyst Quartet on personal study, technique, influences from a variety of musical periods, and a question and answer session.
Maintain a disciplined and committed pace in your studies and personal growth during this time.
Classes began the week of April 19 and ended on May 16, 2020.
At the end of the four weeks, the students presented a virtual recital that was streamed live on Zoom and YouTube. It was a joy and a pleasure to work with these students during this time, and we appreciate their commitment and consistent discipline.
We hope this project has been a source of support for our students during this time of crisis, and we wish to help in any way we can and do our part. We send you our warmest regards and best wishes. Take care and stay home.
Affectionately,
Gwendolyn Matias Ryan
